The Machine

This is The Machine – a team building activity where teams work separately on their own section, but all sections are needed to complete the machine and have it function successfully.

The Machine is an ideal indoor team building for those with limited space, as it can be organised in a hotel meeting room or in a privately rented venue. Our professional staff will provide a short explanation of the activity, including instructions and rules. Teams of five are then created, and each team is given a set of props to use for their section of the track.

• The small ball has to go through the track without stopping.
• The beginning and end of each team’s track must connect with other team’s pieces.

It sounds like an easy thing to do, but teams spend an average of 1.5 hours building their track pieces. Note that a failure of one team means failure of the entire group! In this case, the ball will not go through the entire track without stopping.

We always want teams to be creative, therefore we provide them with various props for track building. Those can be pieces of wood, ping pong paddles, ropes, pipes, hair dryers, hammers, nails, glue, cardboard paper, etc…

Finally, at the end, all individual team track pieces are assembled together into one long track. The atmosphere is quite heavy, because everyone wants to see the ball rolling without stopping! Depending on the number of teams and length of the track, the ball can roll from between 20-120 seconds. It goes up and down, left and right, back and forth, through lifts and swings… until it hits the end. The group enthusiasm explodes, and it’s time to celebrate!

The Machine team building is a technical, cognitive activity for any group in Prague for a conference or meeting. It usually takes about 2-3 hours for the entire activity, including introduction, working time, final roll of the ball and celebration. The Machine has an uncanny ability to bring out the hidden talents of your team members and, of course, if all teams work well, the entire company succeeds!
